Mumbai is the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India, and the fifth most populous city in the world, with a population of approximately 12.5 million. The average annual temperature in Mumbai is 27.2 °C (81 °F), and the average annual precipitation is 2,167 mm. Mumbai’s climate is pleasant during November, December, January and February. It receives heavy rainfall during August and September.
